A scene from Dark City

The movie Dark City shares similar themes with such films at The Matrix, and The Thirteenth Floor, in that the protagonist is trapped in a microcosm simulation of the world which he eventually becomes aware of.

Dark City Plot SynopsisEdit

incredibly dark, philosophical,”sleeper” masterpiece from the director of The Crow, about a man who wakes one night to find he doesn’t remember the last time he saw daylight . A postmodern patchwork landscape of architecture, that contorts irregularly into different decades every night, like the memories of the people trapped in it’s buildings. The movie suggested everything from mind control in military experiments to alien abduction without once breaching its pact with the watcher to show control in a microcosm so sound we might be able to finally relate to it. Though the film passed largely under the radar it quickly developed a cult following.starring Jennifer Connely, Rufus Sewell, and Johnathen Hurt. The set for the film has also been used in The Matrix and The Crow. The film is eerily reminiscent of The Truman Show, The Crow, The Matrix, The Number 23, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It also includes the synchromystic Jennifer Connelly (JC) and a labyrinth of human control and social engineering.
